The TGV Atlantique are SNCF TGV electric trains, capable of 300 km/h, put into service from 1989 on the occasion of the opening of the first branch (West) of the LGV Atlantique
The total number of trains, all built between 1988 and 1992, amounts to 105. This is the second generation of TGVs. Among the improvements, there are better profiled and more numerous motor cars (10 instead of 8).
In addition, the power goes from 6459 to 8800 kW compared to the TGV PSE.
It was a TGV Atlantique train that broke the new world speed record in 1990, with more than 515 km/h.
