Poster locomotive cc 65000
A digital drawing of the french Diesel electric locomotive CC-65000
The CC 65000 are a series of twenty diesel-electric locomotives ordered by the SNCF on February 1, 1955.
They constitute, with the CC 65500, the first "line" diesel locomotives of French construction and are designed to ensure a mixed service, goods and passengers. The first of them was delivered to the La Rochelle-Bonggraine depot in December 1956. These locomotives were mainly used on the Nantes-Bordeaux cross-section and the branches attached to it. From their delivery to the end of the 1970s, they were at the head of freight trains and passenger trains. Subsequently, their activity is reduced to the traction of freight trains, often in double units.
The series was withdrawn from service between 1981 and 1988 but two copies are preserved: CC 65001 at the Cité du train in Mulhouse and CC 65005 by the Train des mouettes (in 2022, parked for restoration in Saintes).
