The La Motte-Picquet frigate (D645) is a Georges Leygues-class anti-submarine frigate, launched in 1985 by the French Navy. Bearing the call sign D645, it is sponsored by Rennes and named after Lieutenant General Toussaint-Guillaume Picquet de La Motte.
In 1999, it participated in the Kosovo War and defended Djibouti against fighting in Eritrea and Somalia. In 2012, it was deployed to the Persian Gulf during the Strait of Hormuz crisis.
In 2015, it joined the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier strike group, which included French, Belgian, and British ships. Its final operational mission ended in April 2020, marking the beginning of its decommissioning and preparation for dismantling. The official retirement ceremony took place on October 13, 2020.
Equipped with SIGMA 40 navigation systems, the frigate was armed with Exocet missiles, a Crotale system, a 100mm cannon, anti-aircraft guns, machine guns, and torpedo catapults. It could carry two Westland Lynx helicopters.
In 2016, it received the Belgian Military Cross for its role in Operation Arromanches 2 in the Eastern Mediterranean.
