The TGV "Sud-Est", also called TGV PSE (Paris – Sud-Est) is the first generation of SNCF TGVs. It is characterized in particular by its original orange livery, emblematic of the TGV.

The first trains were built in 1978 and put into commercial service from 1980 (after a test campaign), in particular to ensure the TGV Paris – Lyon at the opening of the LGV Sud-Est in 1981; the last trains left the factory in 1986.

Note that train No. 16, nicknamed "Patrick", achieved the world speed record of 380 km/H on February 26, 198.
