The TGV POS, designed by Alstom for SNCF in the 2000s, is a three-voltage train intended for international connections to Germany and Switzerland via the East European high-speed line. In 2012, the fleet was sold to Lyria, a subsidiary of SNCF and CFF, before being transferred back to SNCF in 2019 for domestic TGV inOui connections.

The TGV POS trains consist of new three-voltage power units and refurbished existing trailers. They incorporate advanced technologies such as an asynchronous traction drive and multiple signaling systems. The power units, based on a boiler similar to that of the TGV Duplex and PBKA, are equipped to operate in Germany and Switzerland.

Initially designed for international connections from Paris-Est, the TGV POS trains also provide domestic services. In 2011, Lyria took over fleet management, transferring departures to Paris-Gare de Lyon. At the end of 2019, Lyria renewed its rolling stock, replacing the TGV POS trains with Euroduplex trains.

In 2022, SNCF announced the restructuring of the TGV POS and Réseau Duplex trains to create "POS-Duplex" TGV trains, combining POS power cars with renovated Duplex sections. Of the 19 trains, 13 are assigned to the TGV inOui service and 6 to Ouigo Tango.

The TGV POS trains have provided various services since their introduction in 2007, including connections to Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Mulhouse, Basel, Zurich, Nancy, and Épinal. Between 2011 and 2019, they were gradually reintegrated into the South-East axis, providing connections to Mulhouse, Zurich, Bern, Lausanne, and other destinations.

Among the special trains, train 4402 broke the world rail speed record in 2007, reaching 574.8 km/h. Train 4401 was a pre-production train with a different livery, while train 4406 originally belonged to the SBB before being sold to Lyria.
