Poster "le foudroyant" snle
A digital drawing of the French SSBN "Le Foudroyant" inspired by the official tampion of the ship.
The Foudroyant is the third nuclear submarine launched in 1971. It is the sister-ship of the SNLE Le Redoutable.
It was put into service in 1974 and will be equipped with M4 missiles during its major overhaul in 1990. It is decommissioned in 1998. The Foudroyant will then have carried out 67 patrols and circled the Earth nearly thirty times.
128 meters long and 10.60 meters wide, and a displacement of more than 8,000 tonnes, this first generation SSBN carried 16 nuclear missiles.
This poster comes from a series of 6 posters, directly inspired by the tampion of each building.
A tampion was originally a wooden stopper intended to protect artillery from moisture. Nowadays, it is a decorative object bringing together the symbols and strong values of the building it represents.
The poster was produced using Procreate and Ipad Pro in 2019.
