Poster "Le Redoutable" SNLE

Le Redoutable was the first SSBN launched in 1967, under the leadership of General de Gaulle.

Strong sign of independence from France, cornerstone of deterrence, the latter will sail in the French Navy until 1991. He is the only survivor of the series of the first six nuclear submarine, because exposed since 2000 at the "Cité de la Mer" in Cherbourg. Since 2002, the museum has been offering a visit to this submarine, one of the largest submersibles open to the public in the world.

128 meters long and 10.60 meters wide, and a displacement of more than 8000 tonnes, these first generation SSBNs carried 16 nuclear missiles.

This poster is the first in a series of 6 posters, directly inspired by the tampion of each building.

A tampion was originally a wooden stopper intended to protect artillery from moisture. Nowadays, it is a decorative object bringing together the symbols and strong values ​​of the building it represents.
