Poster "le terrible" snle
A digital drawing of the French SSBN "Le Terrible" inspired by the official tampion of the ship.
Le Terrible is the second nuclear submarine launched in 1969 by France. It is the sister-ship of the SNLE Le Redoutable.
Le Terrible was put into service in 1973 and will be equipped with M4 missiles during its major overhaul in 1988. It is decommissioned in 1996. 128 meters long and 10.60 meters wide, and a displacement of more than 8000 tons, this first generation SSBN carried 16 nuclear missiles.
Note that a so-called "new generation" SNLE (SNLE-NG type Le Triomphant) will again bear the name "Le Terrible" in 2008.
This poster is the second in a series of 6 posters, directly inspired by the tampion of each building.
A tampion was originally a wooden stopper intended to protect artillery from moisture. Nowadays, it is a decorative object bringing together the symbols and strong values of the building it represents.
The poster was produced using Procreate and Ipad Pro in 2019.
