A Poster inspired by the official tampion of the Mistral, air carrier helicopter of the french navy
Dixmude (L9015) is an amphibious helicopter carrier (PHA) of the French Navy, part of the Mistral class. It is the third ship of this class, admitted to active service on July 27, 2012, replacing the TCD Foudre. The ship's motto is "Sacrifice, Stand!" in homage to Admiral Ronarc'h's marine rifle brigade during the defense of Diksmuide in 1914.
The city of Marseille has been sponsor of the Dixmude since January 2017. Its construction began in April 2009 at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire and the ship was launched in September 2010. It measures 199 meters long, 32 meters wide, and displaces 21,300 tons. The Dixmude is equipped with various weapons and defense systems, and can transport troops, helicopters, and various vehicles.
Diksmuide participated in several major operations, including the anti-piracy operation Eunavfor Atalanta, military operations in Mali (Serval) and the Central African Republic (Sangaris), and Operation Resilience to support the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the Antilles-Guyana. He has also been involved in rescue and humanitarian response missions.
The ship is twinned with several institutions. In November 2019, it became the first European ship to integrate a rotary-wing drone into its fleet
