Force supply ships, or BRF, are the new supply ships of the French Navy.
They will replace the Durance-class buildings commissioned in the 70s and 80s.
These vessels displace more than 30,000 tons when fully loaded.
194 meters long and 27.4 meters wide, they can reach 20 knots for a range of 8,000 nautical miles. The crew consists of 130 sailors, the total capacity being 160 people.
They are equipped with 2 RapidFire 40 mm guns (at the bow and at the stern), and can carry an NH90 helicopter or a drone.
Their refueling capacity is 13,000 m3 of fuel and 1,500 tons of freight.
Four buildings are planned: Jacques Chevallier, Jacques Stosskopf, Louis-Émile Bertin and Gustave Zédé.
