The Hadès missile was a French tactical nuclear missile, dismantled in 1997. Designed to replace the Pluton missile in 1984, it served as a final warning before a massive nuclear strike. Its 480 km range allowed launchers to remain within national territory, under central control. The program, initiated in 1984, faced reductions in 1991 due to geopolitical changes and German opposition. In 1996, France reduced its nuclear deterrent system to two components, leading to the dismantling of the Hadès missiles. Highly mobile, these missiles were transported by special trucks and could be deployed in rough terrain. Their guidance system allowed evasive maneuvers to avoid interception.
