Poster tampion frigate Duquesne

The Duquesne was a guided-missile frigate of the French Navy, designed to protect fleets against air, naval, and submarine attacks, and to support land operations. The eighth ship to bear the name Abraham Duquesne, she was sister ship to the Suffren and served to protect the aircraft carriers Foch and Clemenceau. Placed in reserve in July 2007, she was replaced by a Horizon-class frigate. Since August 2009, she has served as a breakwater at Saint-Mandrier.

Dieppe was her sponsor city and she was twinned with the 27th Alpine Chasseurs Battalion in Annecy. Powered by turbo-alternators and diesel generators, she was equipped with various radars and sonars for detection and navigation. Her countermeasure systems included decoy launchers and jammers. Armed with Masurca and Exocet missiles, anti-submarine torpedoes, and cannons of various calibers, it was well equipped for combat.

Among its commanders were Captains Albert Jaffrelot, Alain Duthoit, Jean Florentin, Yvan Noël, Marcel Le Ciclé, Philippe Canonne, Philippe Morel, and Philippe de Bazelaire.
