A digital drawing of the Pluton nuclear tactical system of the French Army
The AMX 30 Pluton was a French short-range nuclear missile system developed in the 1960s. It was based on the chassis of the AMX 30 tank and was designed to be a mobile platform capable of delivering a single 15-kiloton nuclear warhead up to 120 km away. The missile was guided by an inertial guidance system, and its accuracy was improved with a terminal guidance system. The Pluton was in service with the French Army from 1974 to 1993 and was eventually replaced by the more advanced Hadès missile system.
