The Mirage 2000N, developed in the late 1980s, was a version of the Mirage 2000 intended for the French nuclear deterrent force. It initially carried the ASMP nuclear missile, then its improved version, the ASMPA. Designed for nuclear strikes, it was equipped with advanced defense systems such as the Caméléon jammer, Spirale decoys, and a Serval radar warning system.
The Mirage 2000N had several versions:
- K1: Initial version with the ASMP missile.
- K2: Capable of all-weather conventional assault.
- K2+: Modified for the ASMP missile.
- K3: Armed with the ASMP-A missile, the last in service.
Commissioned in 1988, the Mirage 2000N was retired in 2018. The last aircraft were transferred to Châteaudun to be dismantled, their parts reused for other Mirage 2000s. Three aircraft were handed over to the DGA Flight Tests, the last of which will serve as a training bench for mechanics until 2022.
