Poster "dassault mirage iii" aircraft
A digital drawing of the Mirage III french aircraft from Dassault-Aviation
The Mirage III is a multirole aircraft designed by the French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Aviation in the late 1950s. It is the first European-designed combat aircraft capable of exceeding a speed of Mach 2 in horizontal flight.
The Mirage III has given rise to numerous variants and has met with notable export success with 8 user countries and 870 units built (21 user countries and 1,401 units built if we take into account the versions designated Mirage 5) . Switzerland, Australia and Belgium built it under license. Israel has locally made planes based on the Mirage 5 (Nesher and Kfir).
While the first Mirages were delivered in the early 1960s, many examples were still in service around the world at the start of the 21st century, 40 years later. They have generally been extensively modernized. As of 2020, he will continue to serve with the Pakistan Air Force, and for many years to come.
