The Akoula-class submarines (Project 971) are a class of Russian attack nuclear submarine, launched during the Soviet era in 1984.

Aiming to compete with the Los Angeles class (they are known to be at least even quieter), these submarines are the direct legacy of the Alpha class ANS.

110 meters long and over 7,500 tonnes, they are among the largest and most advanced attack submarines in the world. Several variations were produced, the Akoula II being represented here.

One of these ships, the Nerpa, was loaned to the Indian Navy for the training of its crews. It should be noted that they are very popular and present in the world of literature and cinema.
