A poster of the French strategic ballistic sea-surface missile M20
The M-20 is a French intermediate-range ballistic missile which equipped Le Redoutable Class submarines.
With a range of 3,000 kilometers and a 1 megaton thermonuclear warhead, it entered service in 1977 and was withdrawn from service in 1991. Each submarine could carry up to sixteen missiles. The M-20 was characterized by two solid fuel stages, measuring 10.67 m in length and weighing approximately 20 tonnes at launch.
It was equipped with a 1.2 megaton TN 60 warhead. Gradually replaced from 1985 by the M4 missile, the M-20 was deployed on the three SSBNs as soon as they entered service.
