Poster SSBN S610 "Le Foudroyant" M20
A digital drawing of the nuclear french SSBN Submarine "Le Foudroyant" in dry dock.
Le Foudroyant is the third nuclear submarine launcher launched in 1971. It is the sister-ship of the SNLE Le Redoutable.
It was put into service in 1974 and will be equipped with M4 missiles during its major overhaul in 1990. It is decommissioned in 1998. The Foudroyant will then have carried out 67 patrols and circled the Earth nearly thirty times.
128 meters long and 10.60 meters wide, and a displacement of more than 8,000 tonnes, this first generation SSBN carried 16 nuclear missiles.
It is presented here in version M20, before redesign, on its tin line.
