Poster Dassault Mirage 2000-B French Aircraft
A digital drawing of the Mirage 2000-B Aircraft
The Mirage 2000B is a training device, although it retains its radar and offensive capabilities.
Derived from the Mirage 2000C single-seater version, it is recognizable by its second cockpit, as well as a slightly reduced fuel capacity and the absence of guns. In addition, the mice of its air intakes are not mobile, limiting its maximum speed.
It made its first flight on October 11, 1980 in the hands of pilot Michel Porta. It passes the sound barrier and reaches Mach 1.4.
The Air Force ordered 30 copies (n ° 501 to 530) which were delivered between November 1983 and December 1994. The first 14 were equipped with RDM radars, and the first 21 with M53-5 reactors. Even if it equips all the squadrons themselves equipped with Mirage 2000C, it mainly equips the 2/2 Côte d'Or squadron whose main mission is operational transformation, from 1989.
This mission is now assigned to 2/5 on the Orange-Caritat base 115, which uses the last 6 units remaining in service. It must be withdrawn from service in the 2020 decade.
